One Waterford couple's heartwarming story has stolen the hearts of the nation and the world

Notable Waterford actor Des Manahan 82 and his Wife Mona who have been married for 56 years have stolen the hearts of the nation.

Unfortunately for Mona who is now 83, her eyesight is deteriorating which makes everyday tasks more difficult for her, like putting on her make up for instances.

Thanks to her doting husband Des she need not worry, as Des has taken up makeup classes to learn how to apply makeup to his wife's face so that she can look and feel her best.

The couple sparked the attention of many when they Des was pictured at a local Debenhams store in Waterford learning to apply makeup to his wife's face with the help of the store's MakeUp Artist Rosie O'Driscoll.

The picture of the couple in Debenhams took social media by storm and got the interest of RTÉ's Late Late Ryan Tubridy, who invited the couple to appear on the show.

Since their appearance on the Late Late Show, the couple's story has been featured by media from across the world and they have even been approached by the BBC and now ITV.

According to the couple, Philip Scholfield has come across the story and would them to appear on ITV primetime morning show,  This Morning with Holly and Philip.

Vogue Williams, who recently tied the knot with Spencer Mathews in a secret ceremony in Scotland is also expected to interview the couple on marriage.
