Waterford Film Festival, An open day at WIT for music students and Dyehouse Films all featured "On the Fringe"

"The Girl at the End of the Garden" will be screened at the Cork Film Festival

Dyehouse Films comprises the Waterford duo of Bonnie Dempsey and David O'Sullivan. The Girl at the End of the Garden is the latest production to come from this venture; it's a slapstick comedy in short film format, that also has a strong message of the plight of children in Direct Provision. It will be screened on November 17th at the Cork Film Festival, and Bonnie joined me in studio to chat all about it...

Speaking of movies, the 13th annual Waterford Film Festival takes place from November 22nd to 24th at Central Arts, the Quay Waterford. You'll find out more here.  55 short films will be screened over the weekend, chosen from entries that came from over 30 countries worldwide. Festival director Stephen Byrne joined me to chat about it...

Waterford Institute of Technology is holding at open day for 6th year students studying music for the Leaving Cert.  Staff and students from the BA (Hons) Music programme will present three workshops on different aspects of the Leaving Certificate Music syllabus on Thursday, 14 November.

The first deals with fusion in Irish traditional music with a live ensemble to illustrate the points. The second focuses on the music of The Beatles with performances by the WIT jazz ensemble and the WIT Chamber Choir. The third is an exploration of Raymond Deane's "Seachanges" where motifs from the work will be explored and developed through creative improvisations.
