Two early goals were just reward for early Blues' dominance as Roland Idowu notched his third goal in two games on eight minutes when he fired a left footed effort past Lee Steacy after good work from Tunmise Sobowale and Ronan Coughlan. Three minutes later the lead was doubled with a sweeping Blues move involving Dean McMenamy, Sobowale and Shane Griffin that ended with Coughlan touching home at the near post.
The home side continued to press looking for a way back with the woodwork twice denying them and Ryan Burke cleared another ball off the Blues goal line. The lifeline came on sixty one minutes when Jack Doherty was bundled over by Killian Cantwell and the former Blues striker dusted himself off to slot home the resultant penalty.
The Blues weathered the home storm and the game was secured ten minutes from time when Coughlan turned provider and flicked on a Burke throw for Griffin to fire home to send the large travelling support into raptures.
