Waterford power into the Munster Senior Cup Final

Waterford FC 3 Rockmount AFC 0

Waterford FC are into their first Munster Senior Cup final in 11 years after dispatching Rockmount in their semi final at the SETU Arena.

The Blues fielded a team from their Under 20 squad with only Joe Forde coming from the Senior team though Romeo Akachukwu, Ronan Mansfield, Adam Queally, Calum Flynn and Anthony Adenepo all brought first team experience to the game.

And it was Flynn who delivered the wonderful ball behind the Cork defence for Evan Geary, that produced the first goal on 24 minutes. David Browne blocked the first effort and when Geary chased the breaking ball, he was brought down by Adam Crowley and the penalty was awarded.

Flynn stepped up to send Brown the wrong way for the lead. Akachukwu scored Waterford's second with a fine shot from the top of the area after great interplay from the young Blues' side on 31 minutes.

Rockmount tried to take advantage of the strong wind in the second half and caused the home side some problems with their best effort coming on 68 minutes when Oisin Aldred touched a looping header from Jake Courtney over the bar.

The game was safe 6 minutes later when Callum Costello charged down the left and found Dylan Warren with an inch perfect pass and he slotted the ball into the corner.

They will now meet Kerry FC in this year's decider.
