2. Waterford’s walk-in COVID test centre to remain open for another week

The facility at Kilcohan has been open for a week now for people who have no symptoms but still want to get tested. It’s going to stay open until next Saturday, the 8th of May between 10am and 6pm daily. Meanwhile the online portal for vaccine registration will open next week for people aged over 50, Taoiseach Micheál Martin has confirmed.

3. Waterford TDs unite on Dunmore East harbour designation issue

Post Brexit, the harbour in Dunmore East was removed as a port for British and Northern Ireland-registered fishing vessels to land their catches. Since then, seven ports have been redesignated, six on the west coast and one, Howth, on the east coast, but Dunmore East is not one of them

4. More clarity on religious services needed

That's according to Fr Michael Twomey, who's now parish priest of Ardfinnan and Newcastle in Tipperary. He says he was pleased to hear that 50 people will be allowed to attend services from the 10th of May. However, he thinks the number should really depend on the size of the church or building in question.

5. Waterford FC kick off busy weekend with visit of Dundalk FC

The Blues face into a busy bank holiday weekend as they continue their League of Ireland campaign under Kevin Sheedy. This evening they welcome Dundalk FC to the RSC with a 7:45pm kick off. Then on Bank Holiday Monday they travel to Tallaght Stadium to face Shamrock Rovers. That game kicks off at 2pm - and both games will be covered live here on WLR with thanks to McConnells Toyota.
