1. Gap between Astra-Zeneca doses reduced

The go-ahead has been given to reduce the time between doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. The Health Minister says there will be a gradual reduction in the interval over the coming weeks, eventually bringing the gap to 8 weeks as opposed to 12.

2. Waterford to be global pilot for new environmental campaign

630,000 euro will be invested in the ‘Waterford Loves Planet, Not Plastic’ programme. The new environmental awareness campaign, by pharmaceutical company Sanofi, has come out as one of three winners of the company’s Planet Mobilization fund. The investment will be over the next three years.

3. Apple Market residents furious after roadworks ‘cut off’ emergency services

A couple in Waterford city have hit out at the council, claiming they carried out extensive roadworks without notifying residents in the Apple Market area. Billy and Kit Finn had called an ambulance last week seeking help after Billy complained of chest pains. However when emergency services arrived past midnight, they could not access the area.

4. Popular Greenway bike hire owner thanks public after closure

A popular greenway bike hire business has closed its doors ahead of reopening for the summer. Donal Jacob has been based at the WIT Arena in Carriganore since the route’s opening in 2016. However with the Arena now being used as a vaccination centre, Donal’s business had to find an alternative venue however this hasn’t been possible.

5. Waterford FC has a new owner

Waterford FC this morning announced that the club owner Lee Power had sold his share in the club to UK-based Richard Forrest. The new club owner has issued his first statement since taking control of the club and speaking directly to Blues fans. Click here to read the statement in full.

6. Waterford writer to appear in British Vogue

Waterford writer Megan Nolan's star is continuing to rise with the author scheduled to appear in the July edition of British Vogue. The "Acts of Desperation" writer made the announcement on Instagram this afternoon. She already has stars such as Sarah Jessica Parker among her fans.
