1. Cabinet approves purchase of Moderna Covid vaccine
The Cabinet has agreed an advanced purchase order for 875,000 doses of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine, according to the Irish Examiner. The EU aims to purchase approximately 80 million doses of the vaccine, of which Ireland will receive just over 1 per cent.
2. At least 2 people dead after car plows into crowd in Germany
Reports from Germany earlier today confirmed that a car drove at high speed into a pedestrian zone in the southwestern German city of Trier, killing at least two people and seriously injuring 15 others.

3. Shops in Waterford experience good first day after re-opening
Retailers in Waterford have voiced their delight at being able to re-open their business from today. Following the exit from ‘Level 5’ and the lifting on the ban on non-essential retail opening, Waterford shops re-opened today and reported a brisk and busy day. 4. Met Éireann warn of cold snap from tomorrow
Met Éireann has issued an advisory notice, warning of a short cold snap later this week. The forecaster says temperatures around the country will drop suddenly from tomorrow until Friday.
5. Ireland take on Germany in vital clash
