1. Nine freezer lorries arrive in Ireland to assist with Covid vaccine rollout

Nine Covid-19 ultra-low freezer lorries have arrived in the country to assist in the rollout of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine. Meanwhile management at UHW confirm that there are no major changes at the hospital as a result of a Covid-19 outbreak within the last 24 hours.

2.Student nurses being used as ‘slave labour’, Dáil hears

Solidarity-People Before Profit TD Mick Barry made the claim in the Dail saying student nurses are being “exploited”. He also criticised the Government for failing to pay student nurses and midwives the same rate as health care assistants.

3. 64,000 learner drivers waiting up to 30 weeks for driving test

More than 64,000 learner drivers are facing a lengthy wait of up to 30 weeks before they can sit a driving test, it has been confirmed. Liz O’Donnell, chairwoman of the Road Safety Authority, said that, while they are trying to clear the backlog, staffing is one of the main issues.

4. Vero Moda open store in Waterford

The Danish retailer, who already have a kid’s store ‘Name It’ in City Square Shopping Centre, opened their doors today. Shoppers can avail of a 20% discount on all stock today as part of its grand opening.
