With the inclement weather conditions and STATUS RED weather alert in place until Friday, 2nd March at 3pm, Gardaí have that all non-essential travel should not undertaken until the current Red Warning is downgraded.
Driving conditions are extremely challenging today. If you must travel, make sure clear snow from your car, have your lights on at all times and reduce your speed so that you have more time to react to things on the road. When driving in these conditions it takes much longer for your car to stop so Gardaí are urging motorists to slow down and stay a considerable distance from the vehicle in front.
Snow continues to fall in Waterford City and County. Strong winds are adding to very challenging driving conditions. Gardaí urging motorists to stay indoors.
Bus Éireann services will not operate today (1st).
Dublin Bus will not operate any services today (1st). At the moment, services are not expected to resume tomorrow (2nd).
Suirway will not operate any services today. It is expected services will not resume until Saturday (3rd).
Irish Rail has wound down all services today (1st), with no services expected to operate tomorrow (2nd).
There is significant disruption to flights, check with your airline before travelling to the airport. Cork Airport is closed. Dublin Airport will suspend all flight operations from 3pm to 4pm. Aer Lingus and Ryanair have cancelled a large number of flights to/from all Irish airports today (1st), as well as all flights to/from Irish airports tomorrow (2nd), with the exception of Aer Lingus eastbound transatlantic flights.
